Aphrodisia: A Solo Exhibition by Alya Hatta
A solo art exhibit at 17? #Goals indeed
Alya Hatta is one artist to keep on your radar. The 17-year-old (read: 17!) self-taught painter opens her first solo exhibit – Aphrodisia, exploring the connection between food and beauty in today's consumer-driven society. So what can viewers take away from this debut exhibition?
"Ultimately, I want to evoke a sense of liberation from society and realise that anybody is beautiful," says Alya.
A majority of her work is created from oil and acrylic using traditional painting techniques to communicate contemporary subject matters, citing Francis Bacon, Michelangelo and abstract artist Fiona Rae as major influences. Alya has previously displayed her work at the LUKIS Pop-Up Exhibition and Mampu Art Market 2016. Aphrodisia is set to be her most major outing yet, so get ready to fall in love with her hyper-real, colour drenched pieces at Minut Init.
When: 10 to 31 March 2017 (Opening night is 10 March at 9pm, otherwise 1pm to 1am daily)
Where: Minut Init, 29A & 29B, Jalan SS21/37, Uptown Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya
