Clare Waight Keller is Givenchy's new artistic director
The designer is the first woman to helm the French fashion house
Here's a groundbreaking move for Givenchy – the luxury brand just announced Clare Waight Keller as its new artistic director, making her the first woman to hold the prestigious position. Earlier this year, Keller left her post as Chloé's creative director after six years leading the brand, leaving many to wonder what her next move would be. Now, Keller will take over from Riccardo Tisci, Givenchy's former creative director who headed the house for 12 years and announced his departure last month.
"Hubert de Givenchy's confident style has always been an inspiration and I am very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this legendary house's history," Keller said in an official statement. "I look forward to working with the teams and writing a new chapter in this beautiful story."
We won't have to wait too long to see what Keller brings to Givenchy – she'll present her first collection as the house's new artistic director in the upcoming spring summer 2018 show later this year.
