Top stories: Runaway ostrich and #Hiddleswift
And everything else the ostrich and Hiddleswift stole your attention from
An ostrich on the Federal Highway – we can just end this article right here, if it weren't for Hiddleswift, the hashtag bearing the news of Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift's surprise relationship, which has been met by both delight and outrage from fans. An ELLE editor gave her thoughts on the latter because really, who Tom and Taylor choose to date is none of your business.
What's also taking over the internet this week is the sushi doughnut – an unusual but very pretty addition to the healthy food scene (you can tweak the recipe to make it more indulgent, btw).
In other (normal) news, Kavita Sidhu and Roberto Guiati had their second wedding in Italy and it was just as beautiful as the first. Elsewhere in Italy, street style star Giovanna Battaglia and her husband Oscar Engelbert partied on a ship for their weekend-long wedding celebrations. Also, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are expecting their second child! A big round of congratulations to everyone and also to 25-year-old fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner, this year's LVMH Prize winner,
We weren't short of collaborations this week: Disney x Coach, Nike Court x Liberty London, Melissa x Alice in Wonderland and Karl Lagerfeld x Faber Castell (prepare your colouring books for the last one!).
We've other exciting things to look forward to, like H&M's Olympian-approved sports collection, Love, Bonito's first ever modest wear collection, and Sephora's new store in 1 Utama (with a special promotion you won't want to miss).
Stella McCartney is our champion this week – she signed a pledge for equal pay and announced that she's going into menswear, which basically means more clothes for us women (what's fashion without borrowing from the other gender?).
Don't forget to vote in our ELLE Malaysia Best of Beauty Awards – you could win a holiday at The Andaman Langkawi or The Westin Langkawi for your votes. And speaking of the sun and beach, don't go outside without sunscreen, or all your anti-ageing routines would have been put to waste.
Finally, we look back at stories from Orlando, where everyone is still recovering from the tragic mass shooting incident. Tributes flooded in, Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote a stunning sonnet, Lady Gaga gave a moving speech, and Selena Gomez paid tribute to her friend and singer Christina Grimmie, another victim of Orlando's loose gun laws. But comedian Samantha Bee went even further than offering thoughts and prayers for Orlando: she called out the loose gun laws in the US with so much honesty and anger, reminding the world that "Love does not win unless we start loving each other enough to fix our f-cking problems." And most of the time, let's face it, we need reminders like that.
