Top stories: Henry Golding and Liv Lo's wedding
Hatta x Yuna is here, Kristen Stewart is our September cover star and J.K. Rowling reacts to the burkini ban
It's almost a week since Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week closed with a bang, but you're still going to want to catch up on things you missed: runway shows, highlights and street style, all seen here. Hot on the heels of KL's biggest fashion event was what is probably Malaysia's wedding of the year: Henry Golding and Liv Lo's, which happened this week at Cove 55, Sarawak. They. Looked. Amazing.
We had plenty of reason to be excited this week, thanks to the reveal of our September issue, starring Kristen Stewart in Chanel on the cover. Go behind the scenes with the actress at the shoot, and then learn more about the makeup she wore in this interview with Chanel creative makeup director Lucia Pica. Meanwhile, Hatta x Yuna is finally here and available to shop on Fashionvalet. See the lookbook, in which Yuna models the pieces she co-designed with Hatta Dolmat.
Celebrities; they wanna have fun. Lily James did, especially with the launch of the new My Burberry Black fragrance. If you're used to seeing her play demure characters (refer to Cinderella, Downton Abbey), her campaign will blow you away. Her custom dress also got her in our weekly best dressed list. Adele had fun too; at a recent concert, she invited two engaged fans onstage and when they spontaneously invited her to their wedding, she said... you find out yourself.
Also fun but slightly random, Tyra Banks announced that she will be teaching at Stanford University for a short time, as former university lecturer Kanye West (only because he had to serve time in community service, remember?) wrote a poem about McDonald's. It sure beats singing the hotline (which they've discontinued in Malaysia, sadly).
In the latest upsetting news concerning Islamophobia, the burkini (modest swimwear) is being temporarily banned in more than a dozen beaches in France. J.K. Rowling and more expressed their outrage about the unnecessary ruling. Across the pond, Zendaya is facing criticism about her rumoured casting as Mary Jane, Peter Parker's love interest in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, and *drumroll please* it's because she's not white. Without confirming whether the rumours were true, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn came to Zendaya's defence, shutting down racist comments.
We've just celebrated the launch of the new Gucci Bamboo fragrance with some of our favourite people, including Tengku Chanela Jamidah and Vivy Yusof, both successful entrepreneurs and very stylish women. How do they do it all and still manage to look like the best kind of "I woke up like this"? They tell us here.
This weekend, if you feel the itch to try on some new makeup, check out IT Cosmetics and MAC's new It's A Strike collection. Also, don't miss out on your chance to win products and vouchers from Laura Mercier, or a holiday at Temple Tree in Langkawi.
Finally, we remember fashion designer Sonia Rykiel, who died recently at the age of 86.
