One person's beauty regimen differs from another's. However, there are a few rules that apply to anyone, regardless of skin type, hair texture or makeup style. Here are eight beauty editor-approved tips you need to know like the back of your hand.
1. Sleep and sunscreen go hand-in-hand
When you want to achieve a flawless and more radiant complexion, you need to remember that sleep lets your skin rest and regenerate at night, and sunscreen protects it during the day.
2. Exfoliate, then mask
Before masking, first exfoliate the skin and then open up the pores with a warm wash cloth for increased product absorbency.
3. What your mascara layers mean
One for a natural look, two for drama and three to make a statement.
4. Apply lipstick from the centre
For neater and smooth application, put on lipstick starting at the centre and work outwards.
5. Scrub regularly
Regular scrubbing or body brushing helps boost circulation which will in turn allow your skin to better absorb lotions and creams.
6. Watch your shower temperature
As good as a hot shower feels, a too-hot shower can leave the skin feeling dry.
7. Be gentle on wet hair
When hair gets wet it's more vulnerable to breakage, so brush your hair before hitting the shower to minimise this.
8. Go easy on styling products
If you're trying a styling product for the first time, start by using just a little bit and adding more progressively. Nothing ruins a look more than using too much hair product.
